COVID-19 Student Helpline Portal Launched by AICTE MHRD
Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) of Central govt. has launched COVID-19 Student Helpline Portal at helpline.aicte-india.org. The union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has started this student helpline portal to tackle Coronavirus on 3 April 2020. The main objective is to help students who are facing difficulties due to closure of colleges and hostels in the wake of Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown. Student can take help on various issues, check COVID-19 emergency numbers, developer information.
This MHRD COVID-19 Student Helpline Portal is developed by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to provide help and support to students facing problems and address their issues. Two student interns Ahivanshu and Akash of Graphic Era University has developed this portal in record time of 1 day.
Moreover, students can check COVID-19 initiatives by IITs, Coronavirus Self Assess Test and can even search institute or city services.
Ministry of Human Resource Development has directed various bodies including University Grants Commission, All India Council for Technical Education, National Testing Agency, National Institute of Open Schooling, Central Board of Secondary Education, National Council for Teacher Education and all autonomous organisations under the Ministry to postpone all the examinations including University Examinations till 31st of March as a precautionary measure in the wake of Novel Corona virus (COVID-19).
According to an official press release, these steps have been taken to ensure safety and security of students who are appearing in various examinations, as also that of their teachers and parents.
It has also been directed to reschedule all evaluation work after 31st of March. This would include evaluation work of CBSE, NIOS as also University exams.
The Ministry has also directed to reschedule the Joint Entrance Examination – Main as the dates may clash with rescheduled CBSE and other board examinations. New date of JEE-Main will be announced on 31st of March after reassessment of the situation. The Ministry has also requested all educational institutions and examination boards to maintain regular communication with the students and teachers through electronic means and keep them fully informed so that there is no anxiety amongst the students, teacher and parents. All institutions have also been requested to notify helpline numbers/emails which student can access for their queries.
Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has appealed to all the students, teachers and parents not to panic as the Ministry is committed to ensure safety and security of students as also the maintenance of academic calendar and all possible steps will be taken in this regard.
